Is It Time To Move On?

#CelebrateMonday is a hashtag that makes you stop and think about how important the first day of the work week truly is.( Shout out to Sean Gaillard, @smgaillard, for the concept of beginning each week with a positive attitude that sets the tone for the remainder of the week)

How do you begin your work week? Are you excited about the possibilities? Are you greeting everyone you meet with a smile? Are you giving your best? Do you find joy in what you do? If not then maybe it's time for a change! If you discovered that you have lost your passion for teaching or education, you are at a crossroad. You can either find ways to re-ignite your flame...or you can move on! Your students/staff deserve the best YOU, the passionate educator who strives to inspire, support, and excite others about learning. Is that who you are right now?

Recently, I attended the #ECET2NJPA two-day conference with other passionate educators who continue to elevate and inspire other one another. It was incredible! I want every teacher and administrator to exude positivity about the profession everyday.
Is it possible? Absolutely!!
Here are some ways to continue to carry the torch or re-ignite your fire:

  • Build your PLN: Twitter, FB, Pinterest, Instagram, Linked-in etc.
  • Attend local Edcamps
  • Organize an EdCamp or volunteer to be part of the steering committee
  • Subscribe to educational journals
  • Join the strategic planning committee for your school or district, have a voice
  • Attend national conferences such as @ASCD, meet other inspired educators
  • Create a hash-tag for education
  • Moderate a chat on twitter
  • Join in the fun: enter contests, apply to be a presenter, apply for grants and opportunities
  • Include your students in the fun(see above)
If after trying all of the above, you still find that that you are not passionate about what you do as an educator...well, MOVE ON! Life is short, you deserve to find something that makes you want to #celebratemonday! Because in the end, It's all about attitude!
